Black Friday 2025 is HERE! Looking for a deal? Here's a few highlights to get you started!
Black Friday 2025 is HERE! While many South Africans may choose to buy their gifts and gadgets during other sales in the year, a growing number of people instead wait for a good Black Friday sale to pick up something nice for themselves or a loved one. Looking for a deal? Here's a few highlights to get you started!
Some History
According to Wikipedia (which you should consider donating to), Black Friday started off in the cities of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Rochester, New York as a trend police were noticing about the start of the holiday season. With so many workers taking time off after Thanksgiving, and a surge of tourists starting their holidays, it became the busiest shopping day of the year for these cities.
Retailers would be swamped with foot traffic, and revenues would be significantly higher than at other points during the year. After many failed attempts to persuade the public against it, and more than one attempt at rebranding it to something that didn't also refer to an 1869 gold trading conspiracy that almost collapsed the U.S. economy, Black Friday was embraced as an annual sales event for retailers to kick off the holiday season with.
Black Friday sales didn't take off in other cities until the mid-80's, and globally the trend didn't take hold until the mid-2010s, when videos of shoppers clamouring for deals at midnight went viral. But now it's a thing everywhere, and good deals can be had if you're quick on the draw.
Apple Mac Mini M4

What more could be said about the Mac Mini M4, plucky little powerhouse that it is? The M4 variant is Apple's latest upgrade for the form factor, arriving at just the right time to be useful for Apple Intelligence, the fruit company's local foundational AI model that runs tasks on-device, to start rolling out to Mac users.
The Mac Mini M4 starts off with 16GB of Unified Memory and 256GB of storage, full HDMI 2.1 48Gbps support and Thunderbolt 4. Connectivity is modern, with Gigabit Ethernet, WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3, along with compatibility with all of Apple's wireless gadgets like the Apple Watch, and Airpods of all varieties. The Airdrop ecosystem also supports seamless file transfers to and from iPhone, iPad, and Macbook.
The ideal user for the Mini is someone who needs it to do a bit of everything, just not with Windows. This includes video editing, productivity work, coding, video streaming, a server for Apple Homekit, and much more. You can throw in some casual gaming as well.
If you're looking for an alternative to Windows and Microsoft's services, the Mac Mini M4 should be on your shortlist this Black Friday.
WootVision Pro 32U O165 165Hz Monitor

Our WootVision monitors have been well received and highly rated. Owners of these beauties are appreciative of the decent range of connectivity in our various models on sale, and the value compared to more expensive brands. We have more a few deployed in the office, too!
The Pro 32U O165 is one of our most impressive - a third-gen QD-OLED panel at a comfortable 32" size and UltraHD 4K resolution. It's a high refresh rate panel too, running up to 165Hz for a largely blur-free gaming experience, with AMD FreeSync technology to smooth out any frame stutters or hiccups.
Connectivity is modern and up-to-date, with two HDMI 2.1 48Gbps ports and one DisplayPort 1.4 Port with DSC. There's an audio jack if you'd prefer to hook up your headphones or speakers that way, though no speakers are included.
For anyone looking to use this for colour-accurate work, the panel is capable of showing 99% of the DCI-P3 colour space, and comes with Adobe RGB and sRGB modes depending on your work and preference. Colour calibration with a colourimeter is still recommended to get the best results.
Intel Core Ultra 7 265KF 20-Core 5.5GHz Desktop CPU

Intel's Arrow Lake platform got off to a slow start initially. Performance in reviews on launch day was decent, but arrived with mixed conclusions depending on your expectations. If you wanted a more efficient Intel platform that was easier to cool and consumed less power, this was it. If you wanted an overclocking monster, then perhaps the Core i7-14700K was still a better choice for tinkering with.
Since launch, Intel has been hard at work to improve the platform's average performance. The Core Ultra 7 265KF sits in the upper mid-range in terms of pricing, offering 20 cores with eight of them boosting up to 5.5GHz. If your needs are mostly productivity based, like coding, or photo and video editing, then the 265KF is a fantastic bargain. Pudget Systems tested the Core Ultra Series 2 at launch and found it was a great choice for these use-cases.
Gaming is also still pretty solid, pulling alongside AMD's Ryzen 5 7600X and Ryzen 7 9700X depending on the games tested by Hardware Unboxed. Intel's intention with Arrow Lake was to set them on the path of improving the power efficiency of their architecture, so it's never going to be faster than the 9800X3D.
But perhaps it doesn't need to be. At R5,999 for this Black Friday Sale, it's a steal of a deal if you want a workhorse system that is going to pretty much do everything very well. Grab yours today and start a build!
WootPack Pro 16" Premium Laptop Backpack

Isn't it frustrating trying to find a laptop backpack that fits yours? There are so many options out there that might not be a perfect fit for you. Maybe your Wootbook is a bit too thicc for that one from the local store downtown, or the materials aren't weatherproof enough for your liking.
We chose the WootPack Pro for all these and other reasons, including fitting the chonk WootBooks we have in stock at the 16" size. The WootPack Pro is covered in waterproof Oxford Fabric, and comes in a black finish with PVC details. The zippers are extra-tough, with four of them opening to reveal quick-access pockets at the front and top sections of the backpack, and another two drawing open the expansive internal compartment that has space for a 16" laptop and a tablet in its own padded sleeve.
The shoulder straps are padded and adjustable, and come with a clip that fits across your chest for a snug fit. A small compartment in the left side is useful for carrying your access and bank cards, or travel ID. A luggage strap makes it super friendly for travel.
If you're looking for a great backpack for yourself or a loved one, the WootPack Pro is on sale for R499 this Black Friday.
MCHOSE V9 Pro Wireless 7.1 Surround Headset

MCHOSE has grown in popularity since we launched the brand locally, and we're big fans of their peripherals. The company recently got into headsets, and the V9 Pro was one of their first. It does bear an uncanny resemblance to the HyperX Cloud headsets, but trust us - this is a much better deal.
Your choice of the Icy White or Steel Black variants comes with a massive 2000mAh battery with a running time of up to 250 hours - ten full days people! You'll tire out before it does - so it helps that the headset is comfortable to wear for extended gaming or listening sessions.
With Bluetooth or 2.4Ghz Wireless connectivity with a USB-C dongle, along with a 3.5mm wired mode, it's also pretty versatile. Supported platforms include the PlayStation 4 and 5 consoles, PC, Switch, and mobile platforms using Bluetooth. The 7.1 Surround mode is virtual, but it is convincing and quite well done for a stereo driver setup.
In 2.4Ghz mode, you also get a crystal-clear microphone thanks to the extra bandwidth available, using MCHOSE's TopSpeed technology to reduce audio latency. Really, the only question is why haven't you bought one yet because it looks like you're still reading this.
Razer DeathAdder V3 Pro 30K Wireless Mouse

The legendary DeathAdder series continues all these years later. Razer's classic shape retains the familiar comfort levels of older DeathAdders, but this one is a bit different. It now polls up to 8000Hz with the Hyperspeed dongle, reducing input latency as much as possible.
It comes with Razer's Focus Pro 30K Optical Sensor, a custom solution that tracks super-fast movements at up to 70G acceleration, and a 30,000 DPI sensitivity. The switches are no longer completely physical - Razer's microswitches are now using frickin' lasers, now in their third generation. Durability is really up there at 90 million clicks.
It's lightweight too, at just 63 grams with an integrated Li-Ion battery that uses USB-C charging. And there's no RGB, which some puritans (like this writer) may prefer.
The DeathAdder V3 Pro 3oK is R800 off this Black Friday, and it should be on your shortlist if you're looking for a fast, capable, high-end mouse.
NVIDIA DGX Spark GB10 AI Workstation Mini PC

Now, wait, yes, we do realise the irony here. The very thing that's causing all the memory price hikes is part of what made this little critter exist. The Artificial Intelligence hype train knows no end, and it is consuming endless amounts of power and DRAM to fuel its growth.
But look at this! Ain't it cute? NVIDIA's Spark is their first AI pro-sumer product designed to run fully instanced, online or offline local AI models on your network, and it's small enough to hide on your desk. It's your own private ChatGPT, DeepSeek, Ollama that will do whatever you want with your own tweaks. You can host your data on it locally. You can program automations into it. It's more difficult to come up with things it can't do - and it does run Crysis, someone already checked.
The Blackwell architecture at the heart of this machine is what gets things pumping. The cutting edge, for now, of AI acceleration is boosted by NVIDIA's integrations into the ecosystem. DGX OS makes it fast and simple to set up and run local models on the fly. NVIDIA's AI Software Stack makes it easy to integrate the Spark into your workflow offloading things to it.
You can pair two of them to work in tandem on massive models up to 405 billion parameters in size. One of these would have been enough for Skynet, but not quite AGI yet.
At R95,999 it is a pricey outlay for your own personal system to run local AI models, but the NVIDIA ecosystem and future optimisations coming to this cute little monster will be worth it. Grab yours today!
