R40,000 Panoramic ARGB Gaming PCs: Black Edition RTX 5070 Ti & White Edition RX 9070 XT Build Comparison
Today we compare two competitive builds; An all-black build with the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, and an all-white build with the Radeon RX 9070 XT.
When it comes to building the ultimate gaming PC, the choice between AMD and NVIDIA graphics cards has never been more compelling. Today we will be comparing two exceptional builds that showcase the best of both worlds; A sleek all-black build featuring NVIDIA's RTX 5070 Ti, and an elegant white build powered by AMD's RX 9070 XT. A classic battle between performance and aesthetics.
Despite using different graphics cards and motherboards, both builds come to just around R40,000, highlighting how close the competition is in the mid-range PC gaming market.
Let’s get the performance comparison out the way first – for the first time in years, NVIDIA and AMD are closely tied in raw performance. Average performance trends to favour the RTX 5070 Ti slightly in most games, while the RX 9070 XT may do better in select AMD-sponsored titles like Ghost of Tsushima.

Across a benchmark of 18 games at 1440P, Hardware Unboxed found that the 9070 XT trailed by 6% on average. Outliers that show more favour to AMD include Rocket League, Call of Duty Black Ops 6, and Warhammer 40K Space Marine II. For various reasons, mostly tied to game engine optimisations, the 9070 XT is the better choice for these games specifically.

The RTX 5070 Ti pulls ahead by more than 10% in games like Far Cry 6, Returnal, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle – not just because the GPU is capable, but because NVIDIA’s RTX software integrations also tends to make adding in complex features a lot easier for developers. Extreme outliers like Gears 5 show off how much this advantage can net NVIDIA GPU owners, performing 32% better than the RX 9070 XT.
NVIDIA’s advantage comes from their market share and software integrations for game engines and industry-leading plugins - there are just simply more owners of GeForce cards than Radeon. Thus, more games tend to ship ready for features like DLSS and Frame Generation for owners of NVIDIA GPUs. AMD is catching up fast though, and their GPUs should be on your shortlist.
The Contenders: Component Breakdown
Black Build - RTX 5070 Ti Powerhouse

The black build centers around NVIDIA's impressive RTX 5070 Ti, specifically the Palit GamingPro-S variant. This graphics card represents NVIDIA's Blackwell architecture at its finest, featuring 16GB of GDDR7 memory and support for DLSS 4 with Multi-Frame Generation. Its standout features include support for up to a 360mm AIO liquid cooler on the top, perfect for the ID-Cooling FX360 INF liquid cooler we're going to use later. The XR ARGB supports multiple fan configurations, with up to three 120mm fans on top and at the bottom, and a lovely panoramic tempered glass panel arrangement.

The black build is powered by the Super Flower Leadex III GE 750W 80 Plus Gold Fully Modular PSU. Known for its exceptional build quality and reliability, this unit delivers 750 watts of continuous power with an 80 Plus Gold efficiency rating, meaning it operates at around 90% efficiency under typical gaming loads (i.e. only 10% of the power draw from the wall is wasted as heat).
White Build - RX 9070 XT Excellence

The white build showcases AMD's latest RDNA 4 architecture through the Sapphire Radeon RX 9070 XT PURE. This card represents a significant architectural leap from RDNA 3, with AMD claiming up to 40% performance improvement over the prior generation. The RX 9070 XT features 16GB of GDDR6 memory and introduces AI-enhanced FSR 4 upscaling technology alongside improved ray tracing capabilities.

The premium Gigabyte B850 AORUS ELITE motherboard elevates this build with WiFi 7 support, enhanced VRM cooling, and the signature white AORUS ICE aesthetic. This motherboard commands a higher price than its counterpart (in the black build) but delivers additional premium features and superior build quality.

The white build would naturally match the Montech XR ARGB White mid-tower desktop chassis. It shares the same core specifications as the black variant but with a fresh white aesthetic that makes it stand out visually. We just so happen to also have a white version of the ID-Cooling FX360 All-In-One liquid cooler as well.

Finally, the white build uses the MSI MAG A850GL PCIE5 850W 80 Plus Gold Fully Modular PSU, a model that caters to demanding setups needing higher wattage and PCIe 5.0 support. At 850 watts, it delivers more power capacity, providing extra headroom for future upgrades or a spot of GPU overclocking.
The Platform: Socket AM5 with DDR5

We've picked the Ryzen 7 7800X3D for both builds, AMD's former flagship that still throws its weight around. Built on TSMC's 5nm advanced node, this CPU is renowned for its revolutionary 3D V-Cache technology, stacking a massive 96MB of L3 cache on top of the cores, which dramatically enhances gaming performance by reducing memory latency and boosting data throughput for gaming workloads.
The 7800X3D boasts a boost clock up to 5.0 GHz and a base clock of 4.2 GHz, striking a perfect balance between peak frequency and power efficiency with a 120W TDP.
